Richland County Visioning Project

Richland County’s Vision is the product of a grass-roots community planning effort. It began with an opinion survey. A huge amount of information was distilled into 4 key statements about fundamental needs that have to be met if we’re to enjoy a bright future.

- The need to nurture our youth
- The need to support schools
- The need to lower the crime rate
- The need to create prosperity and opportunity

Youth Education Safety and Jobs

In 1999 a board was formed to take the Vision statement and run with it. Our implementation includes an Annual Report and Vision Week. The report is a checkup of community health. Vision Week shines our spotlight on the issues and promotes thoughtful dialog. The Vision Board intends to act primarily as a catalyst rather than as a sponsor. Our center stage roll is limited to the annual events. More often, we’ll speak out to support other group’s efforts to advance the key goals.

Visions are the dreams that sustain us over the long haul.
They’re the future we see with our eyes closed.
