Richland County Regional Planning Commission
New Executive Director
Matthew C. Huffman of Gahanna, Ohio, has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Richland County Regional Planning Commission. Huffman, a native of Wooster, will assume his new position on July 8.

Currently serving as the Community Development Manager for the Columbus suburb of Gahanna, Huffman has a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and masters degrees from Franklin University and The Ohio State University, respectively. Following a 17-year career in retail management and financial services, in 2003, Huffman enrolled in the Masters Program in City and Regional Planning at The Ohio State University to fulfill a personal desire to become a part of a profession that can help make communities the best they can be.

A 10-member Search Committee comprised of Richland County Planning Commission board members, selected Mr. Huffman from a pool of 30 applicants for the job. Richland County Health Commissioner Stan Saalman, current President of the Regional Planning Commission, chaired the Search Committee. Mr. Saalman has remarked that the nationwide search for a new Executive Director produced a remarkable group of highly capable planning professionals, and that Mr. Huffman is an excellent choice to carry on the work of the organization.
